SAVANNAH – James Scott Kavanaugh, 48, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
The East Meadow, NY native was born January 12, 1961, the son of the late James Edward and Alice Kavanaugh.
He was a 1984 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating with a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Scott worked with Northrup Grumman from 1985 until 2000, and since 2000 has been a Liaison Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Kavanaugh.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lisa Kincannon Kavanaugh and son James Ray Kavanaugh of Savannah; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ray Kincannon of Cartersville, GA; and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cicchetti of Venice, FL and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schmid of Bayshore, NY.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 8, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Sunset Memorial Park in Cartersville, GA.
Donations may be made in Scott's memory to Savannah Christian Preparatory School, 1599 Chatham Pkwy., P.O. Box 2848, Savannah, GA 31402-2848 or to the American Heart Association.
